GAIKER-IK4 Technology Centre will participate at the ECOFIRA, the X International Fair of Environmental Solutions that will be held in Valencia from 16 to 18 February. GAIKER-IK4 has a long history of R&D in the environmental field, being the Centre that leads the scientific and technological Environment and Recycling Unit of the IK4 Alliance, which is currently comprised by 8 Basque Technology Centres, including the Centre in Zamudio.
The presence of GAIKER-IK4 at this fair will allow the Centre to publicise its activities and experience in the development of R&D, Advanced Technological Services, Analysis and Tests, and Training and Technological Dissemination in the field of environment and recycling of plastics and composites. GAIKER-IK4 will have a 24m2 stand where it will exhibit a series of prototypes developed in the framework of R&D conducted by the Centre's Environment and Recycling Department.
These prototypes include the following:
• Reuse of fabric and automotive waste to manufacture insulation panels for the construction sector.
• Recycling and reuse of plastics from WEEEs (Waste electrical and electronic equipment) to produce new parts for different sectors: automotive, household appliances, etc.
• Recycling and reuse of composites from the automotive industry to develop new plastic parts: panels, car lights, etc.
• Recycling, recovery and reuse of materials from football fields of artificial turf to transform them into new lawns or to manufacture new products.
• Extraction of oils from plastic waste pyrolysis to reuse them in industry.
• Use of recycled tires in road paving.
• Use of demolition waste (concrete, bricks, wood, stone) to manufacture new decorative building materials.
• Manufacture of decorative panels from waste from electrical installations, packaging, etc.
ECOFIRA, the International Fair of Environmental Solutions faces its tenth edition endorsed by its high participation levels, with over 100 exhibitors and 10,000 trade visitors.
