Production of preforms and multi-layer structures by vacuum forming

The main objective is to produce flat and 3D preforms and multi-layer structures using vacuum forming technology.

We have equipment with a 310 x 130 cm work table designed for thermoplastic and thermoset composite forming, which enables us to develop fibre reinforcement preforms (glass, carbon), composite parts and multi-layer structures with 3D geometry. Low-pressure moulding technology also enables low-cost moulds (3D printing moulds, wood, foam, etc.) to be used.

This service consists of different sub-sections:

• Production of dry fibre preforms (glass, carbon, aramid, basalt,…) for RTM and infusion.
• Prototyping of composites with high mechanical performance from prepreg sheets (organosheet and thermoplastic tapes and thermoset prepregs).
• Development of multi-layer structures incorporating different lightweight laminates and cores.
