Improving the fire performance of composites 

In sectors such as construction, transport, furniture, electrical-electronic, etc., the materials used must meet highly demanding fire performance requirements.

The aim of this service is to improve the fire performance of materials by means of additives in the formulation or coating in order to comply with the corresponding regulations, covering the following stages:

  • Identification and selection of flame retardants and smoke reducers that are compatible with the plastic matrix to flameproof and are environmentally friendly.
  • Formulations with flame retardants/smoke reducers adapted to the applicable manufacturing process.
  • Prototyping.
  • Characterisation of the formulations by means of the tests required by the applicable regulations (EN 13501-1 for construction, EN 45545-2 in rail transport, or others).
