Antimicrobial efficacy: Development and characterisation of biofilms
We evaluate the antibiofilm activity of active ingredients, formulations and/or final products against various microorganisms characteristic of different habitats (environmental, clinical, food, materials) by means of:
Generation of biofilms in a CDC continuous flow system on different abiotic surfaces (borosilicate glass, stainless steel, etc.) as per ASTM E3161-21, E2562-22.
Generation of biofilms in RDR system (rotating disc reactor) on different abiotic surfaces (borosilicate glass, stainless steel…) as per E2196-22.
Evaluation of antibiofilm efficacy as per ASTM E2871-21.
Characterisation of microbial cell growth and viability in the biofilm by fluorescent labelling and visualisation in confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM).
