Obtaining the design properties of sheets and laminates used in the production of fibreglass-reinforced plastic tanks and vessels

• Verification that the properties used in the design are fulfilled by the laminates made during the production of the equipment or by offcuts obtained from the service consists of the following stages:
• Definition of number, types of laminates, dimensions and quality requirements applicable to them
• Inspection upon receipt of laminates
• Preliminary tests for laminate conformity: uniformity, fibre percentage, hardness
• Machining of specimens
• Tests on laminates
• Obtaining average thicknesses of laminated layers
• Obtaining design values for the different mechanical properties
• Assessment of results against design data for laminates

With this service, the customer will benefit from:

• Obtaining design values higher than the minimum values required by the Standard
• Lowering of the safety coefficients by reducing the applicable design factor as per EN 13121-3
• Compliance with regulations regarding the periodic assessment of the design values obtained in laminates
• Obtaining real thicknesses of laminated layers by evaluation of the laminates
