Qualification of composite laminators 

Objectives:

• Qualification of laminators for the manufacture of fibreglass-reinforced plastic (FGRP) tanks and vessels as per EN 13121-3 Annex E.
• Qualification of FGRP laminators and secondary bonders as per ASME RTP-1, Annex M5.
• Qualification of thermoplastic sheet welders as per EN 13067.

The service consists of the following stages:

• Review of procedures and documentation of materials used by the customer in order to tailor the theoretical examination to the customer’s needs.
• Preparation and performance of the test at the manufacturer's premises, evaluating the results for each operator.
• Definition of the samples to be prepared for the practical examination. Definition of number, types of laminates, dimensions and quality requirements applicable to them.
• Supervision of the practical examination.
• Inspection of laminates upon receipt. Visual inspection in accordance with the requirements of the applicable Standard.
• Machining of test specimens.
• Preliminary tests of laminate conformity: uniformity, hardness.
• Machining of specimens.
• Tests on laminates and welds.
• Assessment of results and interpretation of regulatory requirements.
• Individual certificate and report per laminator and material.
