Composites consist of an organic matrix and a fibre reinforcement. The formulation of the organic matrix is key to determining its properties. We prepare the formulation based on thermosetting resins, incorporating additives, fillers and catalytic systems for use in the different thermosetting composite transformation processes.
Once the matrix formulation has been prepared, the fibres are incorporated. Through different transformation processes.

The aim of this project is to develop lightweight materials based on aluminium and composite fibre metal laminates (FMLs), in order to meet demanding reaction to fire standards, by developing flame retardant prepregs.
In this project, GAIKER carried out research into obtaining epoxy-based flame retardant formulations, which are recyclable, and can be processed suing SMC technology, which comply with the reaction to fire requirements for electric vehicles (more demanding than those demanded of conventional vehicles) and have good sound insulation properties.

The main aim of the project is to develop a highly sustainable active-passive system to carry out energy retrofitting throughout the interior of a building envelope. GAIKER’s research has focused on developing and characterising new, more economic and robust vacuum insulation panels (VIPs).
The main aim of the project is to develop fire-resistant composite materials based on phenolic and furanic resins for the manufacture of lids andlightweight battery cases for small-size electric vehicles.
GAIKER is working on studying the degradation and early detection of the degradation of composite surfaces.
